So while I was in homegoods I also found this huge wedding planner and organizer and it was only $9 so how could I refuse. I also was at my local thrift store dropping off some clothes and I randomly saw this book... How to plan the perfect wedding without going broke :) How perfect! And this book only cost me about 13 cents :) Am I a bargain hunter or what lol. Let me tell you the look on Michaels face when he came home and saw my stack of books... and this is just the beginning!

So I totally figured out how I'm going to tell my mom about the engagement. I think I will still take a picture because that is cute and she would love to have it but...
I was in homegoods yesterday just looking around for birthday and christmas presents and I randomly found this book sitting on a shelf no where near other books so I glanced at it and... come on! How freaking perfect is this! So I'm going to wrap it up and give it to her when I see her for her birthday/christmas :) I'm so freaking excited!

FINALLY!!!
I'M ENGAGED!!! Yes that is right, I'm engaged! Who would have thought it would finally happen... not me that's for sure. I still don't feel like it's real. Every few minutes I look down at my hand and see the ring and get a huge smile on my face because... I'M ENGAGED!!!
I guess part of the reason it doesn't feel real yet is because I'm trying to keep it a secret for a little while. I want to tell all of my sisters in person because it's just more fun than getting a phone call. Also I'm dying because I have not told my mom yet and she is the person I wanted to tell first! Her birthday is the first week in December so I'm going to frame a picture of me and Michael with the ring and give that to her as her present and tell her like that... hopefully she will notice the HUGE ROCK on my finger lol.
So I'm sure you all want to know how it happened. Well here goes...
It was the morning after Thanksgiving and Michael's mom had convinced me that we were getting up early to go black Friday shopping. Frankly I don't know why I even believed her because she is the last person that would get up early to go shopping on black Friday of all days. And to make things weirder Michael wanted to come too! But I was just going with the flow and thinking nothing of it. So we all got up and were getting ready and Michael and his mother were fighting over time in the bathroom. Again I didn't think much of it because this is something that happens regularly in the Troester house. So Sheryl got all upset and was like just go to the store yourselves and we will meet you there since I'm not ready yet. So me and Michael left to go to the store but he was driving the wrong way. I was confused so he told me that he wanted to take the scenic route and do something romantic since we had not in a while. In the back of my mind I knew where he was taking me and I thought... how cute would it be if her proposed here... but give it up girl, its not going to happen! So we drove to Lynn Demming Park, the place we had our first kiss almost 8 years ago! We got out of the car and started walking on the beach and it was so cute :) We were walking and out of the corner of my eye I see Michael get down on the ground and my heart drops... is he getting down on one knee... I look over at him and... he sat down on the stairs next to us! Darn another fake out, so this whole time I'm telling myself to calm the freak down because hes not going to propose! We were sitting on the beach reminiscing about our first kiss, when we first started dating, and the past almost 8 years together. He says to me " Shannon are you sure you want to marry me?" and I was like "DUH, you know I want to! You don't even have to ask! The ball is in your court Mr. its all up to you now." " Really, so what do I have to do to get you to marry me?" "You know what you have to do, all you have to do is ask me and I'm there baby!" "Oh that's it, all I have to do is say (now he takes the ring out of his jacket pocket and says) WILL YOU MARRY ME?" :)
So I was shocked to say the least! I just sat there with my jaw dropped open for what felt like ten minutes but was probably only 5 seconds and then like the silly little girl I never wanted to be I started crying like a baby! I was absolutely SHOCKED! I told him he was crazy and then I made sure to say " if this is a joke it's a really really mean joke!" He reassured me that he was not joking and just sat there looking at me all weird. I didn't know what was wrong until he said... "Umm... so... does that mean yes?" Apparently I forgot to answer the all important question so I said YES YES YES!!!! So that is the story that will go down in history :)
I was so excited I wanted to go meet his family at the store to show them the ring and tell them all about it but the whole thing was all set up and there was no shopping going down that day. His mom knew about it the whole time, it was all a set up! Yeah it was pretty much the most awesome day of my life so far!!! I didn't even notice the ring at first but its GORGEOUS! I LOVE it so much! Its so pretty and I just love it! So now that I have written a novel I will stop but I will continue to write updates as things happen :)
